5 Days Tour at Caiman Eco Lodge

Welcome to our 5 Days 4 Nights tour in the Cuyabeno Reserve! Our tour offers a unique experience in the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, where you will have the opportunity to see a variety of flora and fauna, including monkeys, birds, sloths, pink dolphins, caimans, snakes, and nocturnal animals. Our tour also includes visits to indigenous communities, where you will learn about their culture and traditions.

Day 1:
We will meet in Lago Agrio between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, where we will take our private Caiman transport to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve. After checking in at the Reserve office and a brief talk with our naturalist guide, we will begin the two-hour canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to Caiman Lodge. On this trip, you will be able to enjoy the wonderful flora and fauna found in the jungle. We will arrive at Caiman Lodge around 1:30 pm, where we will have lunch and relax for a few minutes. At 4:30 pm, we will depart by motor canoe and go to explore the Flooded Jungle. We will take a tour around the Laguna Grande, watch the wonderful sunset, swim, and have dinner. We will end our day by going out in search of caimans, snakes, and nocturnal birds from the motor canoe.

Day 2:
After breakfast, we will take our paddle canoes and head to our Caimancocha trail. We will hike in the primary forest for approximately 3 hours, where our guide will explain about the ecology of the Amazon rainforest, its medicinal plants, and the diversity of animals. In the afternoon, we will take a tour in our catamaran, swim, and watch the fantastic sunset. After dinner, we will have a night walk to see arachnids, amphibians, and hopefully nocturnal reptiles.

Day 3:
We will meet at our meeting point early in the morning and head to our Great Cayman Bird Tower to see a variety of birds and the beautiful sunrise. After breakfast, we will depart down river to the Siona Community of Puerto Bolivar, where we will be greeted by one of the native women who will take us to the cassava plantation to harvest cassava. We will also meet one of the last 4 Shamans of the Siona tribe in Ecuador, who will explain his cosmovision directly related to the Ayahuasca drink. We will have lunch, take a brief tour around the area, and return to the lodge in the afternoon to swim at sunset and relax.

Day 4:
After breakfast, we will provide full-day equipment and go paddle canoeing to another fantastic lagoon, La Laguna Cananbueno. We will have the opportunity to see many animals and the exuberant nature of the area. We will go for a hike in the primary forest for approximately 3 hours and have a box lunch in the jungle. We will take a rest in hammocks in the middle of the jungle and return to the lodge to swim, watch the wonderful sunset, and enjoy a special dinner with our guide.

Day 5:
We will take a tour to observe the sunrise and a variety of birds and have breakfast at the hotel before returning to the Cuyabeno Bridge, where you will be picked up by our private bus that will take you to Lago Agrio. Our tour includes transportation, professional guides, tour activities, boots, water ponchos, hammocks, and food from lunch on the first day to the farewell cocktail on the last day.
