4 Days Tour at Piranha Eco Lodge

Day 1

Our journey begins with an exciting start as we meet at Lago Agrio between 8:40 am and 9:00 am. We will gather at the picturesque Farm Hotel Magic Paradise. From there, we'll embark on a two-hour ride in our private transport to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve. Upon arrival, our guide will greet us with an informative briefing at the environmental ministry’s interpretation center, followed by a quick check-in at their offices. The real adventure begins as we hop into canoes and set off down the Cuyabeno River. Be on the lookout for vibrant flora and fauna, lively monkeys, exotic birds, and even anacondas, the world's second-largest snakes. Our success in spotting these creatures will depend on the weather and a bit of luck.

From 1:30 to 2:00 pm, we will have lunch at Piranha Ecolodge. Afterward, our guide will introduce us to our accommodations and the surrounding area, followed by a short rest in our rooms.

At 4:45 pm, we'll embark on our second expedition of the day, traveling upstream to the confluence of the Cuyabeno and La Hormiga Rivers. Here, we may spot the magnificent pink dolphins, a protected species and an icon of Cuyabeno. Our journey continues to Laguna Grande, renowned for its stunning sunsets and perfect for a refreshing swim.

By 6:30 pm, we'll begin a nocturnal hike to observe various insects and amphibians. We may also encounter snakes and nocturnal mammals like armadillos during this 45-minute trek. As we return to our canoe, we'll search for the elusive black caimans and tree boas along the Cuyabeno River, guiding us back to our ecolodge.

At 8:00 pm, we'll enjoy a delicious dinner and a welcome cocktail prepared by our chef. The evening will end with an option to relax in a hammock or enjoy a drink at the bar, reflecting on the day's adventures and looking forward to the next day's experiences.

Day 2

At 6:00 am, we'll start an early morning expedition to the observation tower to spot the Amazon's birds and, with luck, tree-dwelling mammals like monkeys and sloths. Nearby, the vibrant macaws will make their presence known with their colorful feathers.

After our bird-watching adventure, we'll have breakfast at 7:30 am, preparing for the day's activities.

At 8:30 am, we'll enjoy a combination of paddling and trekking. We'll paddle for 45 peaceful minutes, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest. If we're lucky, we might see otters hunting in the river. Once on land, our guide will lead us into the heart of the Amazon, explaining its ecology, flora, fauna, and the intricate ecosystem.

Lunch will be from 12:30 to 1:00 pm, followed by a well-deserved break in hammocks or our rooms.

At 3:30 pm, we'll gather at the interpretation center to reflect on the morning’s discoveries. Our guide will provide insights into the indigenous communities of Cuyabeno, sharing their connection with the natural world.

Our adventure continues at 5:00 pm as we take a motorboat to explore Caiman Cocha Lagoon, one of the 14 mystical lagoons within the reserve. We'll keep an eye out for more wildlife as we journey to this beautiful lagoon, set against a stunning sunset backdrop.

The day will end with dinner at 8:00 pm, followed by a restful evening reflecting on the day's experiences.

Day 3

At 8:00 am, we’ll start with a hearty breakfast, preparing for the day’s adventures. By 9:00 am, we’ll head downstream to the Siona Community of Puerto Bolívar. Here, we’ll be greeted by a Siona woman who will guide us through a yucca plantation. She will teach us how to prepare casabe, a traditional flatbread made from yucca, giving us a hands-on experience with their culinary heritage.

Lunch will be at noon in the village, allowing us to savor local flavors and experience communal life.

At 1:00 pm, our guide will introduce us to one of the last four Siona tribe shamans in Ecuador. In an intimate encounter, the shaman will share his worldview, closely tied to the sacred Ayahuasca brew. We’ll participate in an energy cleansing ritual, accompanied by ancient songs passed down through generations. Our exploration will continue with a search for wildlife, ending with a visit to El Ceibo, one of Ecuador’s largest trees, where we can take photos and absorb its positive energy.

At 5:30 pm, we’ll paddle upstream in search of birds, monkeys, and sloths. The serene river and dense canopy above create the perfect setting for spotting these elusive creatures.

The day will end with a farewell dinner and cocktail at 8:00 pm, reflecting on our unforgettable experiences and the connections we've made with the natural and human communities of the Amazon.

Day 4

At 5:30 am, we’ll embark on an early morning voyage upstream to the majestic Laguna Grande, where we’ll witness a sunrise that colors the sky in vibrant hues. As the day begins, we’ll search for dolphins and other wildlife active in the morning.

By 8:00 am, we’ll enjoy breakfast at the hotel, savoring the peaceful moments before we prepare for our return journey to Lago Agrio.

At 9:30 am, we’ll board our motorboat back to the Cuyabeno Bridge. The riverbanks will offer one last look at the Amazon’s abundant wildlife.

Upon reaching the Cuyabeno Bridge, a private bus will take us back to Magic Paradise, where we’ll conclude our adventure with a delightful lunch.

This final day captures the essence of our journey – a blend of serene beauty, thrilling wildlife encounters, and the bittersweet return to civilization, carrying with us the lasting memories of the Amazon.
